The village of Franca, at most a few minutes away has a bakery for wonderful fresh bread daily - a real treat! There is a traditional sausage factory, two cafe's and a restuarant.
20 Mins drive (8 miles) away is the historic city of Bragança and with about 35000 inhabitants, has all the day-to-day facilities that you would expect. There are some very good supermarkets there for example Intermarché atVale de Álvaro 5300 - Bragança. (Easily accessible on the Franca side of town) There are also plenty of banks, there are some great craft shops near to the historic castle. A good variety of restaurants will cater for most tastes.
Just in case, there are plenty of doctors and dentists as well as a hospital where some of the doctors speak english.
Electricity is from two-pin continental sockets, so bring your adaptors!

A small secluded gîte tucked into the moutainside beside a chestnut grove it is built in a rustic style using stone gathered from the mountain above. It enjoys superb views across the valley from its vantage point above the village. 1 x twin bed, kitchen, open fire, bathroom. Full central heating.

Situated at the upper end of the village, Casa Montanha is built in the same rustic style as Casa da Castanha. This country gîte occupies a magnificant location looking down over the Rio Sabor and onto the village from its position on the mountainside.

Being situated within the wonderful mountain scenery of the Montesinho Natural Park, the village is excellently placed for walking, cycling, bird watching and painting holidays. Being over 1,000m above sea level, and on the same latitude as Rome, the area enjoys an almost ideal climate and has a clean atmosphere.
